Erika Hall

Erika is the co-founder and Director of Strategy at Mule. She has advocated for the importance of evidence-based design and clear language since the late 20th century. 

Erika is the author of Just Enough Research, now in its second edition, and Conversational Design, both from A Book Apart. Erika works to help organizations and individual practitioners apply critical thinking and humanist values to meaningful problems.

Her current project is helping designers better understand the businesses they work within from a systems perspective.

Mike Monteiro

Mike is the co-founder and Design Director of Mule. He writes and speaks frequently about the craft, ethics, and business of design.

Mike’s book Ruined by Design: How Designers Destroyed the World, and What We Can Do to Fix It asks designers to consider the ethical implications of their work.

He also wrote the guides to professional practice Design is a Job and You’re My Favourite Client, both from A Book Apart, and The Collected Angers, a collection of essays about design, ethics, and social responsibility.
