Movable Type 4
I was in Disneyland when SixApart called.*
I was standing in a 3 hour line waiting for the recently reopened submarine ride. I’d been lured there by an advertising campaign that simply said “The subs are back.” The subs, you see, were once a staple of the park. When they started showing signs of their age during the Eisner era the ride was closed and turned into a lagoon.
The re-opening of the subs was a monumental event. Not only was it the opening of a new ride; it signaled the company’s re-commitment to its great past.
When long-time partners and all-around good people at Six Apart needed a final push to get Movable Type 4 ready for prime-time they called us. I said “Only if we bring the gears back.”
We made a few tweaks to key interaction flows, added some friendlier language, and designed a user interface that was not only easy to use; it was sexy.
The gears are back.
